Kasaun Henry, Creative Director
Kasaun Henry is an award-winning filmmaker and composer, international music producer and pianist from Harlem, NY. Kasaun holds a Master of Arts in music theory from the University of Michigan, a Master of Letters in philosophy from Faulkner University, and a Master of Arts in history from Drew University, where he is currently a doctoral candidate in the History and Culture program.
Harlemwood Studios evolved out of Kasaun’s podcast “PoliticalSoulFood,” on which he discusses politics, education and history in an accessible and passionate conversation for the youth and the general public.
Filmmaking is a medium Kasaun uses to raise awareness about pressing and often complex political, social and cultural issues that our human society faces. Kasaun’s first short film My America (shot on two iPhone XR’s) is a testament to his talent for and commitment to storytelling for the betterment of human society. Kasaun won the Ujamaa Short Film Black Male Writers Award at the 2019 Kwanzaa Film Festival
